WWF Hong Kong Charity Walk in Mai Po

image I joined my sister and her MBA alumni of the University of Newcastle at the Charity Walk in the Mai Po Nature Reserve this morning. This is a rare opportunity for the public to enter this restricted zone and enjoy the hundreds of bird and plant species in such perfect weather. All the donations go to the World Wide Fund (WWF) for Nature Hong Kong. The arrangements have been wonderful, I have learnt so much more about Mai Po, its habitants and history (particularly the struggle with the Government). There were so many birds that I got a little bit scared, so I bought some WWF T-shirts and souvenirs to calm myself. :-)

New PowerBook!

imageAfter waiting for more than a whole month, my new 15″ PowerBook has finally arrived! It was a very miserable month for me, because I sold my old TiBook (which wasn’t really that old, and it was a good price) upon ordering the new one and later discovered that the new one won’t be shipping in a short while. The shop was very nice that they lent me an old TiBook (this one was really old) running at 400Mhz, so I had to live with it for all these weeks and indeed lost so much productivity - imagine waiting for a few seconds for average action like “File -> Open”!!

My new baby is featuring a G4 1GHz CPU, 15.2″ LCD, DVD-Combo, 256MB RAM (I made it to 768MB), 60G Hard Drive, Built-in Bluetooth, Firewire 800, USB 2.0 and 802.11g Airport Extreme…. I feel so much better that it comes with Panther, it is stunning fast even with 256MB RAM. The overall performance boost is more than 50%, not to mention the ability of sharing Windows Network and Printers, so even it was a huge delay, I am happy now.
