iPod mini and the global iPod phenomenon
The cover of local computer magazine PC Market undoubtedly caught my attention and HK$15 from my pocket today. It is Apple’s iPod mini on the cover and the story inside across 15 pages!!! I have been a reader of this consumer computer magazine for more than 7 years and I guess this is the first time I see such an extensive coverage of a product from Apple - which reportedly has less than 5% market share in Hong Kong. The story itself is comprehensive and worth reading, you are going to feel that there is really an iPod phenomenon locally and globally.
I already own an original iPod 15G, so there is no replacement need. I love my iPod even I am not fully utilizing it. For all my friends using Windows, I highly recommend you get iTunes even if you are not getting an iPod. I am not exaggerating, you can safely trash your copy of WinAMP or MusicMatch or Windows Medida Player to your Recycle Bin afterwards (btw, how to remove WMP from Windows, any expert?)
On the right is a snapshot of the new San Francisco Apple Store taken by Arnold on his arrival for the RSA Conference 2004. I wish I were there to get the first touch of the new iPod mini and try to sneak into the new store …

i am not sure there is an “official way” of removing WMP (uninstall option). i mean it is microsoft and why in the world would they want you to ‘not’ use their software??
BUT if you are determined, you can open up your windows folder and delete the file there. be sure to make whatever you replace it with the default option or you will keep running into error messages that say ‘WMP’ can not be found or some such. then you might end up screaming at your computer in response “of course not you dumb computer! i deleted it!” or is that just me? if you need specifics please feel free to contact me.
as for ipod’s … i use my toshiba e750 pocket pc. plays movies, music, goes online and has all my other info. only problem is the battery runs out very quickly … but i dont want to have to carry another gadget around so i stick with it.
on an unrelated side note … am i the only reader that comments on this page?? or is it that i’m the only outsider??

hi LoFuJai, I am sure you are not the only one who comments here, just because most of the others reading my blog are a little bit too *shy*, I can assure you that all the “insiders” are very talkative in real, physical person.
I’d rather not try removing WMP on my own PC, you know my sister would kill me if the PC doesn’t work, she’s that kind of people who think they must use the same platform as in office PC to get things done.
I had my worst PDA experience with a Casio back in 1998, then I never tried WinCE/PPC again. Unless you’re really into music, I don’t see your need of replacing it with an iPod either.
Cheers
