More sushi, Oh …

imageAfter usual tennis practice, we visited Oh Sushi again and had an unbelievable feast. I think we had tasted more than 30 dishes. I couldn’t quite move afterwards. This photo features the house salad, goose liver sushi and uni (sea urchin) sushi, among other irresistable food like toro, ark shell, salmon, scallop, crab, raw beef, tempura …. all fresh and yummy!

Fortunately I burnt quite a lot of calories at practice tonight and ready for bed very early. Still, I have no luck to enjoy a long, good sleep because of an annoying mosquito - which caused a dozen or more bites all over my body. I struggled with it for two hours and I am now completely awake again!

iPod Photo

iMac CyberCafe As rumoured, iPod Photo is out today. I discovered this news while I was having a tea break in a cyber cafe in TST this afternoon. This is the first “Mac” cyber cafe I found in Hong Kong (you know more?), I had no hesitation giving it a try. As you see from the pic, I had a mixed fruits crepe and a latte, at my back was a first-generation 15″ LCD iMac. They got 4 units of them, many applications are available, including M$ Remote Desktop Connection.

iPod Photo looks pretty nice, I hope its battery could last as long as the classic iPods. I’ll see if I want one when I get to play with a real thing. Meanwhile, I am perfectly happy with my 15G iPod, just got a new CD from HMV today and syncing the songs to iTunes…

Bernice’s blog

Great news to announce! My best friend Bernice is blogging finally! She’s got a website of her own in 2001, but there wasn’t anything on it except some private photo albums. Now there are already two entries on her blog, do check it out and support the site!

If you are looking for a blog system that is easy to set up and use, do try the one she is using - WordPress. It only took me 15 mins to get it installed and running, I haven’t tested its capability in languages other than English yet, so if you just blog in English, you’re safe to go. There are some nice features that pMachine doesn’t have, like mulitple categories, password-protected post and spell check. But I guess I’ll be sticking with pMachine for now, I am too lazy for learning how to customize yet another blog system.

Losing

Our team travelled all the way to play against Fairview Park in their home court tonight, it was a very far location that we almost got lost. The result was disappointing, we lost 4-5 aggregate. I feel bad and responsible because our plan didn’t work out as I didn’t secure 3 points, which were expected of being the first pair. The worst thing was that I lost 0-6 in the third set, I was like dreaming all the way, that really sucks!

Car cruise around the island of HK

Belle and seafood in Kowloon City I obtained a driver’s license in Hong Kong back in 2002, but I never own a car or drive at all. I enjoy being a passenger, so that I could sleep or eat or do anything I like, most importantly I don’t have to pay attention to the traffic and the surroundings all the time - which is exhausting for my brain, I meant it.

Today I enjoyed very much being a passenger in the round-the-island car cruise with Bernice, there is nothing to worry when my best friend drives, with all the experience, skills and attitude she’s got, I just took my time to appreciate the sceneries. We began by having a late tea lunch at the revamped Jumbo Kingdom in Aberdeen, then drove along the south of Hong Kong Island, passing by Deep Water Bay, Repulse Bay, Chung Hom Kwok, and arrived in Stanley, where I spent 7 years studying and has always been a special place to me.

Hairy Crab Party with Tennis Team

Hairy Crab Party with Tennis TeamOur annual hairy crab party was held tonight at Sassoon Road like last year, we had eaten 21 quality hairy crabs, mixed vegetables, rice dumplings, noodles and ginger tea. We did not have any food left over, so I guess every one was not too full, including myself. I was a bit tired going to the tennis practice tonight because I went back to office to work a bit and picked up the crabs in the afternoon. The coming week will be a very busy one for our whole office, I hope everything goes well, including the league match on Monday night against Fairview Park!

Chung Yeung Festival

Belle hiking on Chung YeungToday is Chung Yeung Festival, a public holiday when Chinese go visit their ancestors’ graves. I had more than 10 hours of sleep, then I went hiking with Bernice just on the hill at the back of my home. We started at around 3:30 pm and finished at 5:30 pm, it was quite a short and easy trail from Siu Sai Wan to Tai Long Wan (Big Wave Bay). The weather was fantastic for hiking, I wish we had spent more time. There is another trail leading to Tai Tam, maybe I’ll try that next time.

I got a lot of work done today, but I badly miss the gym, I haven’t worked out for nearly a month! Tomorrow I will be going to my usual tennis practice, hopefully I could sweat more. Though the Crab Party at night would definitely cancel it out anyway.

Really having fun using my BlackBerry these days, I finally bought the Sync Software for mac yesterday, everything seems OK except Chinese support, which is not critical for me. I now got all my contacts, schedules and stickies on my BlackBerry too! I am going to write a full review on this new toy a month later, so that I can try and test it thoroughly and give a fair review on the battery and GPRS usage issues too.

BlackBerry 7230

BlackBerry 7230 The past week was awful, I’m glad that it is over! I’d like to get myself a new gadget to celebrate, LOL! Here it is - BlackBerry 7230 from Three HK. In short, it is a handheld specially designed for wireless email access. OK, I remember I probably had once said that I wouldn’t use any more handheld devices like Palm or PocketPC, so here are the excuses: first, this BlackBerry is the only viable and affordable option for wireless email access currently in the market. I don’t mind carrying around a Palm/PocketPC with me every day (which I did before), but it is such a hassle to hook it up online to just read a few emails. I have to either find a Wi-Fi spot or use a GPRS connection.

Hairy Crab feast

CrabsAutumn has come, so it’s time for Hairy Crabs! Tonight my best friend Bernice and her fiance Jon came to our place for crab feast. We got the hairy crabs (or Dai Chap Crabs) from a famous shop in Causeway Bay tonight, not sure whether they came from Yangcheng Lake though, they didn’t wear any ring, my grandma and mom made many delicious home-made dishes like chicken in soya sauce, steamed fish, mushrooms and vegetables… Of course not without soup and ginger tea. We could barely move after the dinner and there are still two crabs left!

Ups and downs

As I was chatting on IM with a new friend last night, I realized that the picture of myself depicted through my website is misleading, to a certain extent. It seems that nearly everything happens to me is joyful, exciting and I don’t need to vent. No, of course that’s not the truth. Life is comprised of both ups and downs, usually the downs are more. Living a fast-paced lifestyle like this in HK, I’m glad that even the downs are less noticeable, just deal with any problem as it comes, act on it straightaway and - “next please”. No one can afford the luxury like a walk on the beach to think over and over. My #1 guideline is, always stay positive. While we shouldn’t call to quit easily, we however have to admit that there are things beyond our control.

Summary of the day: I am down, the server is down.
