Happy New Year, please pray & donate

Wish you all a very happy new year! Without any celebration, I stay home tonight. My heart is with all those who are hurt by the Indian Ocean earthquakes and tsunamis. I am not religious, but all I could do is to pray and to donate:

Mercy Corps
Oxfam Hong Kong
Red Cross Hong Kong
World Vision Hong Kong

Hope my prayers will be listened, and these unfortunate countries will be needing our help for many many months to come.

Korean BBQ Party

BBQ at Hyun-joo's place

BBQ at my new friend Hyun-joo’s place in Happy Valley tonight, with Andy, Lee-Peng (Happy Birthday!), Joseph and Theo. Incredible night. Excellent food (esp. the Korean rice), the 8pm fireworks, 270 degree Happy Valley night view and a full moon!

Merry Christmas

Happy holidays! What are you doing today? I got up early for a tea lunch with family and some uncles and aunties, then played nearly four hours of tennis at HKU, finally came home for a hot pot dinner. I woke up very tired this morning due to yesterday’s fitness class, but somehow I became energetic once I arrived on court, I felt like I never played enough! Maybe that’s because I have so many things in my mind to work on, after having two lessons with Ricky:

1. Smash - getting much better today as I remember to turn my shoulder
2. Volleys - slightly improved and became more powerful, just need to keep my racquet in sight all the time during impact
3. Backhand high shots - this one has so much to work on, still can’t manage to take the ball early and complete a full swing

Will be playing tomorrow and on Monday too, so my X’mas holidays are actually TENNIS holidays.

Rushing for X’mas

Over with birthday celebrations, I have been busy working round the clock for the past week that I rarely got time/idea to update my blog. I really want to start a new year fresh, you see, that means getting rid of all the long overdue tasks on my to-do list. So far I am quite pleased with my progress. I managed to deliver a few projects and finish some nasty admin tasks at work, get some new winter clothes, meet up with some old buddies, shop for X’mas parties and send out greeting cards and presents to my dear friends … Yeah, first time in 5 years that I am sending X’mas cards! Don’t be disappointed if you don’t receive my card/present, there are three possibilities:

1. It has NOT arrived yet, bet it should reach you before the new year, I probably missed the X’mas postal deadline for your country; or
2. You haven’t given me your postal address (don’t EVEN think that I would be able to dig it out on the web, you nuts!); or
3. You’re not on my list - think about what you did or didn’t do to me! LOL!!!

Birthday - Part II

Drinking champagne at birthday dinnerContinuing my birthday report with another full day of activities. The most dramatic thing happened when I got up this morning for tennis with Andy at the Ladies’ Recreation Club (LRC). While I was packing up my gear as usual, I discovered that my mobile phone was gone! OMG… I immediately called my number and not surprisingly, the phone was turned off. So I tried to recall where I lost it, that must be in the taxi I took home last night! Damn it… I wonder how many calls I’ve missed. So there is no choice, I cut the card and got a new one, as I truly believe that I have zero chance in recovering it.

Of course I feel bad about this, I just got the phone in February! I guess it still worth HK$1500 on the second hand market. Though I sync my contacts regularly to my Mac that I didn’t lose any number, I am upset that I lost all the SMS messages I saved, I really treasure some of them.

Happy Birthday to me!!!

With Danny Diaz at Miramar Hotel Ladies and gentlemen, it’s Dec 11 and I am a year older - again! This sounds ridiculous to say happy birthday to myself on my own blog, especially when I am just home at 3 am feeling a bit dizzy after the wine and the overnight work the day before.

Well, I got to make use of this special day to thank a couple of people. First and most importantly, to my family for their love and kindness, they already asked me what I would like to have for my birthday like two weeks ago! Sister got me a fanastic birthday present and made me a chocolate mousse cake at a cookery class.

I’d like to thank my best friend, she’s just cool, she’s always there for me and surprises me every year with her gift idea, she just understands me so well that she always gets me the most special thing.

Thanks also go to my wonderful team of colleagues who put together an early celebration last weekend, hey guys, I really like the iPod socks! Last but not least, thanks to my new friend Andy for giving me such a special night, he brought me to the extraordinary show by Danny Diaz at Miramar Hotel. I enjoyed it so much! I got two complimentary tickets for Danny’s concert at the HK Coliseum as well as a huge bottle of champagne! Of course, a special version of Happy Birthday song from Danny! Hey, what can I ask for more? Later today I’ll be playing a lot of tennis, hopefully I could kick some asses with my birthday luck! Thanks every body!

Cult of Mac

Cult of MacI just bought this book at Amazon.com. Leander Kahney’s column at wired.com is one of the sites that I frequent daily, I enjoy reading about all the stories on this cult.

I cancelled my first order and added the book to my shopping cart again, thanks to Roy for reminding me of the FREE Super Saver Shipping offer. I added more items and will have them shipped to my best friend’s USA address, so that I could pick them up when I go to SF in January. So, are you in HK and want to buy something from Amazon.com? If yes, tell me before 20 Dec and I’ll help you bring it back to HK around mid-January.

Looking for birthday/christmas gifts for me? How about sending me a Amazon.com Gift Certificate? :-)

Annual Dinner

Annual Dinner 2004

It’s a special Saturday I just had, I went to my company’s Annual Dinner instead of going to tennis practice at night. We had a nice buffet dinner at the Park Lane Hotel, with a lot of food and laughters. Colleagues (including me) who were born in December also received a birthday cake and greetings, then I got my second birthday present - iPod Socks. Thanks Bill! Check out for more photos …

December, finally

Last month of the year, finally. No, don’t think I am saying this because I don’t like the past 11 months, I just feel time really flies. At the beginning of 2004, I never thought that I could have done and experienced so much.

December is always a special month to me, it’s my birthday month, the X’mas month, and a month for reviews, plans and wishes. Do I have any wishes? Yes, definitely. If you want to know, ask me.

Update: Is anyone going to Sydney soon? Can you do me a favour?
