I went to another HKIFF film with my friend Theo at Tamar Site tonight. They got the largest outdoor Air Screen ever in Asia (see photo below), it was quite an experience. The Tezuka Osamu Experimental Animations II lasted only 69 minutes, it was pretty cold there and fortunately we didn’t stay any longer. Afterwards we went to buffet dinner at the Island Shangri-La, I had lots of oysters, sashimi and desserts, I’m so full now!

As you see, this is still work in progress. Over the Easter holiday, I finally squeezed some time out to revamp this site, which had been powered by pMachine (and its default template) for more than two years. It’s time to try something new. WordPress has been phenomenal, and someone had already written a pM-to-WP importer, so it is my first choice. This OrangeSky theme was designed by Nao, I will certainly tweak it to its fullest when I have time.
For now, please bear with the various broken links until another long weekend allows me to fix everything. If you have problems logging in or leaving comments, let me know.
Went to The Hidden Blade, one of the opening films of the Hong Kong International Film Festival (22 Mar ~ 6 Apr), at Cultural Centre tonight by myself. This is the first time for me to go to a film on my own, quite an enjoyable experience because I could do whatever I like. More films to be seen in the next few weeks.
Congratulations to the boys and girls at the University of Hong Kong Tennis Teams! By defending their titles at today’s HKPSCAA (like NCAA in USA) Finals against the Chinese University of Hong Kong, they again showed that not just skills matter, but also hardwork, team spirit, game plan, leadership and coaching. I am so proud of them, too bad I couldn’t watch them play because of my own match at the HK National Open at Victoria Park. I was ousted by a 15-year-old Indian girl in the first qualifiying round, the score was 4-8. This is my first match in an open tourny for more than 7 years. I learned a couple of things from this match, and many thanks go to my friends for their support today.

My new iPod Shuffle (1GB) just arrived today. A great company to my new Book The Cult of Mac.
Thanks to Andy for bringing me to this great musical tonight. This is the first time I ever went to a musical performed by locals. Hong Kong Singers is the oldest theatrical group in Hong Kong, having been in existence since 1931. Their performance was fantastic, I am sure I would go see them more in the future.
It turned really cold and rainy since the weekend, so lucky that I still got some quality tennis practice on both Friday and Sunday. More improvements have been made, especially my serve and backhand. I am looking forward to Wednesday and Friday, when I could play with the University Team again. I wish them best of luck on Sunday’s Final.
Have you ever had the experience of wondering how you managed to do something that you once thought as nearly impossible? It’s like magic, you know, it’s like it’s just not real. This just happened to me tonight, at my usual weekend tennis practice session with my league team.
I scored a 6-0 win over a teammate in a singles match. This is totally unprecedental. I couldn’t believe it. First, I never beat her in singles before, not even once in these 8 years, she always beat me easily and is considered a very tough player. Second, I played a completely different game tonight, not only I started with a very clear game plan at the very first point, I also executed the plan effectively throughout the match, and I wasn’t panic!
Well, I must also mention that my opponent just recovered from a calf injury in December and she was clearly not in her best form. Nonetheless, this win meant a lot to me. I am so grateful for my coach, I couldn’t have done this without his teaching, he brings the best out of me. I had played 14 years of tennis, and this match was probably my best one so far. I may lose to my teammate again next weekend, but who knows, by keeping this up I think anything is possible and there would be better matches to come!
After a long day’s work, it’s all worth it. Sister and I took mom out for dinner to celebrate her birthday. We went to a small Japanese restaurant in Wanchai to have sashimi, sushi, uni (sea urchin) and other favourite dishes of mom’s. Then we watched her favourite TV show Dai Cheung Kam (Korean) while having foot massage. We were still full but it didn’t stop us from going to dessert at the famous Moon Kee in Causeway Bay. Mom’s very happy, and she’s even more thrilled when running into her favourite singer at the dessert place. Well, this is just the beginning, there will be more celebration activities over the weekend and next week! Check out the pics

It’s been an extremely busy week, lots of work and tennis. I enjoy being busy. Taking down each task on my to-do list, and filling it up again with new ones is a constant challenge. Recently I forwarded an email to 30 close friends of mine, I rarely forward any email, but it’s an interesting one. First received from Dave, I took more than an hour (what a luxury!) to complete the “quiz”. It contains many little known facts of myself and let others learn more about me, actually I learnt more about myself too. One of the questions was How much do you love your job?, I’m very grateful for having a job that I love so much.
Today’s mom’s birthday, sister and I will take her to a Japanese restaurant tonight to have her favourite Sashimi. Yeah!
