Final league match is over

Flooding in Sheung WanI took a snapshot of the heavily-flooded Wing Lok Street in Sheung Wan when I was on my way to work this morning (sorry it is so blurred and out-of-focus). There was even a red rainstorm warning during most of the day.

I never thought that the postponed league match against KCC, the defending champion, would take place. All of a sudden the rain stopped in the late afternoon and our home courts were dry and fit for matches! Despite some intermittent rain showers, we finally finished the match. I feel a bit lost now, the summer season is finally over!

It was quite a torture for me as team captain (my first try!) to arrange this postponed match, you know why! It had been dragged for too long due to the rain and court availability. I am glad that it is finally over now, and we achieved well beyond our expectations by making it to the first runner-up place. Although we lost 1-5 tonight, we all felt that we should be proud of ourselves and we deserve a big celebration party later.

Vivian Wong & Amy

3-6, 3-6

Aggregate: 1-5 (the rest of the matches were not played due to rain)

So we won 6 out of our 7 matches this summer season, I can’t complain. :-) Many thanks go to all teammates (playing, practising and supporting remotely), my coach Ricky and Keith from the HKU students’ team. It has been such a joyful season.

The opponents are very strong, too bad the rain prevented the final round matches and further opportunities for me to learn. I am glad to hear that my coach said I still have much room to improve my game, I look forward to practising tomorrow and playing better in the next season!
