A classic exchange on Craigslist

My good friend Andy rarely forwards me anything, but I don’t think anyone could resist for this one, including me. The following exchange took place on Craigslist - what a classic!

What am I doing wrong?

Okay, I’m tired of beating around the bush. I’m a beautiful (spectacularly beautiful) 25 year old girl. I’m articulate and classy. I’m not from New York. I’m looking to get married to a guy who makes at least half a million a year. I know how that sounds, but keep in mind that a million a year is middle class in New York City, so I don’t think I’m overreaching at all.

Are there any guys who make 500K or more on this board? Any wives? Could you send me some tips? I dated a business man who makes average around 200 - 250. But that’s where I seem to hit a roadblock. 250,000 won’t get me to central park west. I know a woman in my yoga class who was married to an investment banker and lives in Tribeca, and she’s not as pretty as I am, nor is she a great genius. So what is she doing right? How do I get to her level?

Tennis long weekend

Hairy Crabs“What did you do over the long weekend?”. This is going to be a popular question tomorrow for many of us in Hong Kong. Many people have probably left the town for vacation, including my sister. For me, it’s a “Tennis” one. I played for three consecutive days! I could have worked a lot but I didn’t because I felt that I needed to exercise badly.

One of the reasons being the amount of calories, fat and sugar I consumed in the last few days. I had a fantastic buffet lunch on Thursday with my colleagues at Conrad Hotel, the Alaska crab legs, lobsters, oysters, sashimi and desserts were just too tempting to pass. Then I had a hairy crab feast with my tennis teammates on Friday night, the crabs this year are so good, much bigger and fatter than previous years! Plus all the ice-cream and late snacks I had, I don’t think playing some extra tennis would even offset the fat I gained.

Thanks to Robert and Damaris, I have got some professional-looking tennis action photos taken. Other than playing tennis, I have also spent quite a lot of time watching tennis on TV (Tennis Masters Madrid), I can’t believe NOW TV doesn’t show the Finals live and Roger Federer LOST!!!

Stephanie’s Wedding

Steph & JoeCongratulations to Stephanie and Joe! Today is their big day and I am honoured to be part of it. As one of the “sisters”, I was responsible for one mini-game in the morning and it went pretty smoothly, we all had a great time.

Every one was very nice, happy and we had a lot of fun. The banquet was superb, it was the best wedding banquet I have ever been to. I love the food, the band, the place, the slideshows, the music … actually the whole run-down and of course, the lovely couple. Everything was put together so well, the M.C.s did a wonderful job too, very classy performance!

The speech made by Stephanie was absolutely touching (so was the slideshow), I noticed a few at my table cried and I almost did too. I wish them the best and God bless them!

Congratulations to Stella!

My good friend Stella just won the APEGBC Young Professional Award! Congratulations! I’m so proud of her! Being recognized by your professional peers is a great honour, and I never doubt that Stella got the potential to excel in whatever she chooses to do since I met her as Head Girl in SSC. My guess is, this is just the start!
